Louise Bain

Louise is an Associate within the Civil Department. She joined the firm in 2012 as a Solicitor, was promoted to Senior Solicitor in March 2019 and promoted to Associate in January 2024. Louise is also on North Lanarkshire Council’s List of Solicitors prepared to act as Financial Guardians.

As part of her role in the Civil Department Louise provides specialist advice on various matters including Family Law, Employment Law, Powers of Attorney, Wills, Guardianship Orders and Child Law matters.

Most recently Louise has assisted Macmillan Cancer Support’s Information Development Team with their “Work and Cancer” Booklet series. She also appears before Employment Tribunals representing both employees and employers in any matters of dispute.

Louise has experience in advising clients and providing representation in Regulatory matters. She regularly assists clients with cases being investigated before Regulatory bodies such as the General Teaching Council, Scottish Social Services Council, General Medical Council and Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Her significant experience includes representing clients daily in court proceedings relating to child contact disputes, separation and divorce. She also assists clients in obtaining Guardianship Orders for friends or family members who are unable to make decisions for themselves due to incapacity.

Louise regularly provides advice and guidance to clients in relation to the drafting of Wills and deeds of Power of Attorney. She is part of the Solicitors for Older People Scotland group.

As an Associate and part of the firm leadership team Louise has responsibility for supervising junior colleagues and providing training in all aspects of her practice areas
