Woman jailed after third drink driving charge

A 31-year-old woman was imprisoned for eight months this week after being caught driving while five times over the legal limit. According to the Daily Record, it was the third time that Louise Seatter had been caught drink driving.

Seatter, a human resources executive, had earlier admitted the offence, which took place just weeks after the expiry of an earlier drink driving ban. She also admitted driving without a full licence or insurance.

In her defence her lawyer stated that she had only driven in that state in order to escape from a date with a “creepy” man, and that she had an alcohol addiction for which she was now receiving treatment.

However in the face of previous repeated warnings that she faced a prison sentence if caught drink driving again, the Sheriff felt that a custodial sentence was appropriate.

Seatter was also banned from driving for three years.
