Interim Orders Tribunal

A doctor may be asked to appear before an Interim Orders Tribunal at any time during an investigation. An Interim Order Tribunal has the power to suspend practitioners or impose restrictions or conditions while investigations are ongoing.

Medical Practitioners Tribunal

The Medical Practitioners Tribunal will investigate whether a doctor is fit to practise following a complaint. The tribunal will usually comprise of a chairman, a lay person and a medical practitioner, as well as a legal adviser. Both the GMC and the doctor under investigation can call and cross examine witnesses.
