Situated roughly six miles north west of the city centre, Bearsden is an established and affluent Glasgow suburb. The town began as a small hamlet in the 17th century, but by the time the 19th century came around, and as Glasgow’s wealthy businessmen were increasingly looking to move to areas outside the city, Bearsden grew in prominence, with an increased population bringing with it a wealth of Victorian homes which are visible across the area even today.  With great transport links to the city, as well as top food, and entertainment, Bearsden is a fantastic place to own property.

Why choose Bearsden?

Across the UK, and particularly in Scotland, property prices continue to rise.  Looking specifically at Glasgow and Edinburgh, the most popular areas to own in Scotland, prices have, and continue to, increase in value, and particularly in the west of the city, where Bearsden is situated.  The ‘G61’ postcode which covers the Bearsden area, has continued to thrive despite the recession, with average house prices of £301,000, which are double the national average.  This is on top of the forecast that house prices in the area are set to increase in value over the coming years.

Houses in Bearsden range from old, Victorian style houses, to contemporary new builds. The town centre, Bearsden Cross, is home to a selection of independent shops and restaurants. It also hosts a yearly Highland Games, in partnership with its neighbour Milngavie. As well as a leisure centre, the town boasts Kilmardinny Loch Nature Reserve, a wildlife haven with woodlands and a loch, which is the site of a number of sculptures of ‘The Gruffalo’, in tribute to Bearsden author Julia Donaldson. The town is home to 5 golf courses, including The Glasgow Golf Club, which having been founded in 1787, makes it one of the oldest golf courses in the world.

“I would like to commend Peter for helping me out during one of the most stressful things I have ever done. Selling and buying a house in less than 3 weeks seemed like a good idea at the time however I did not appreciate the time and energy that it would require. I was therefore eternally grateful that I had instructed Peter as my solicitor. Peter was available at all times to explain the process, to keep me calm and put my mind at ease. The fees for the work he carried out on our behalf were excellent and he cannot be faulted in his professional service. I would highly recommend Peter and The Glasgow Law Practice to anyone and will ensure that I use their services for all legal transactions in the future.”
