Sellers return to the Scottish market

The supply of new homes rose in Scotland last month as vendors returned to test the pre-Christmas market, according to the latest RICS Housing Market Survey.

Last month, 44% more respondents reported rises rather than falls in vendors placing their properties on the market (from -47%).

However, this boost was not met by demand as a net balance of 8% more surveyors reported falls rather than rises in new buyer enquiries.

Looking ahead, Scottish chartered surveyors are hopeful that the market picture should improve with an increase in sales, as a net balance of 16% more respondents predicted rises in transactions over the coming three months.
