Sellers return to the housing market

New figures released by the National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) have shown that in June the number of people selling their homes reached its highest level in over two years.

During June, the average number of properties for sale per branch increased from 68 in May to 74, the highest figure since April 2009, when there was on average 76 homes for sale.

The number of sales agreed also increased, from an average of eight per branch to nine. This suggests that the increase in sellers reflected confidence in the market rather than a glut of unsold properties.

However, June also saw a fall of 4% in the number of house-hunters entering the market compared to the previous month, making June the third month in a row to see a drop.
