Edinburgh has claimed six out of ten of the most expensive properties bought in Scotland over the last five years, according to figures released by Registers of Scotland.
The other top ten spots are held by Auchterarder with two, Longniddry and St Andrews with one apiece. The most expensive property on the list was bought for ÂŁ5 million with the number ten slot costing the owners ÂŁ3.1 million.Â
Surprisingly, no Glasgow properties made it into the top ten, falling short of the list by almost ÂŁ1 million.
On average, 25% of Scotland’s residential properties change hands without a mortgage.
