In particular, he has developed expertise in the sphere of personal injury litigation from initial instruction at the 'claim' stage to conclusion in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session. He has acted primarily for individuals pursing such claims whether arising from accidents at work, on the roadway or on pavements or footpaths. In the industrial sphere, as well as pursuing claims arising from specific accidents, he has also successfully pursued claims arising from the negligent acts of employers resulting in conditions such as industrial deafness, vibration white finger, upper limb disorders, occupational asthma and occupational stress. Stuart has also represented the interests in court of the family of deceased persons at Fatal Accident Inquiries.
In the sphere of employment law, he has advised in relation to compromise agreements in situations of redundancy, as well as pursuing and defending claims for unfair dismissal at employment tribunals. Stuart has also acted for both lenders and borrowers in actions for recovery of domestic property under the Conveyancing and Feudal Reform(S) Act 1970, in situations where the borrower has fallen into arrears.
Away from the office, Stuart enjoys the outdoor life and relaxes by spending time in the garden, on the golf course or by jogging on the beach. He is also partial to the occasional glass of red wine!
