New High Court prosecutors appointed

Three new Senior Advocate Deputes responsible for prosecuting serious crimes in Scotland, including sexual offending, serious violence, organised crime and drug trafficking, have been appointed by the Lord Advocate, Frank Mulholland QC.

Jennifer Bain, Ashley Edwards and Andrew Stewart QC, who are currently Advocate Deputes, have been selected as Senior Advocate Deputes from a high calibre of candidates for the posts. They will assist the Lord Advocate and Solicitor General with High Court prosecutions.

Announcing their appointment, the Lord Advocate said:

“With the collective experience that Jennifer, Ashley and Andrew bring as serving Advocate Deputes, combined with their rich mix of professional skills, I believe that the public can be confident in the continued delivery of fair and effective justice. I congratulate them all on their appointment as Senior Advocate Deputes”.
