Practice made perfect

New football liaison prosecutors

On 5th August 2011, the Solicitor General announced the creation of a team of specialists who will act as Football Liaison Prosecutors (FLPs). This followed a successful trial of a Football Liaison Prosecutor in Glasgow, as recognised in the recent Scottish Government evaluation of Football Banning Orders.

The Solicitor General has now announced the three prosecutors who will lead the fight against football related violence and disorder. They are:

– Barry Dickson: West (Argyll & Clyde, Ayrshire, Dumfries & Galloway, Glasgow, Lanarkshire)
– Vicki Bell: North (Grampian, Highlands and Islands, Tayside)
– Faith Millar: East (Central, Fife, Lothian and Borders)

The FLPs in each area will ensure that there is a consistent and robust response to cases of football related violence and disorder. The FLPs will share their expertise with police and work with them to improve the quality of police reports to ensure that a strong case is made to the court to grant a Football Banning Order.
