At Arbroath Sheriff Court, a man was fined £300 and had an 18 month Football Banning Order imposed last week, after being convicted of culpable and reckless conduct.
On 12th December 2012, throughout the match at Gayfield Park, a number of flares and fireworks were being set off within the west stand resulting in stewards making a concerted effort to identify those responsible.
At one point in the second half, they became aware of a section of the crowd separating and Jordan Dunbar was observed dropping a firework which then went off with a loud bang.
He was kept under observation until the game concluded and then arrested.
The Banning Order means that as well as the fine imposed by the court he will be banned from all regulated football matches throughout the whole of the United Kingdom for a period of 18 months.
“This was a very foolish and potentially dangerous act by Jordan Dunbar. Fireworks and flares can be very dangerous and setting off any pyrotechnics in crowded areas such as football matches could have devastating consequences.,” said Football Liaison prosecutor Vicki Bell. “Such irresponsible behaviour will not be tolerated and police and prosecutors are determined to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”
