Glasgow Council approves development plan

The Executive Committee of Glasgow City Council has apparently given its approval to the proposed Glasgow City Development Plan, which will now be published for public comment.

The plan is designed to promote the council’s priorities with regards to Glasgow’s economic growth and resilience, and is intend to facilitate four strategic outcomes for the city. These outcomes involve making Glasgow:

  • “a vibrant place with a growing economy;
  • a thriving and sustainable place to live and work;
  • a connected place to move around and do business in; and
  • a green place which is resilient, accessible and attractive.”

Interested parties will have eight weeks from the 1st of May to make any comment or objection on the plan to the council.

“The Glasgow Local Development Plan is absolutely essential in how the city’s growth is shaped in the years to come,” commented Bailie Liz Cameron, Executive Member for Jobs and the Economy at Glasgow City Council. “The council has spoken to all interested parties to make sure we have the most representative body of opinion on the subject possible. I would ask everyone interested in participating in the final representation period to do so.”
