Police Station Consultations
Being interviewed by the police is a confusing and distressing experience. Things are often said in haste that cannot be explained later. The law now recognises this, and following the Supreme Court’s decision in the ‘Cadder’ case, persons detained by the police now have the right to access a solicitor.
Your right to a solicitor
Our solicitors will attend the police station at which you are being detained, or consult by telephone if this is impractical.
We will advise you of your rights to make sure you are fully informed, and that you do not make any statement which may be incriminatory. It’s important you do not waive your right to legal assistance. In many cases, a seemingly innocuous statement made during a police interview has resulted in a conviction later.
We can attend police stations throughout Glasgow, including:
- Glasgow City Centre (Stewart Street) Police Station
- Calton (London Road) Police Station
- Cathcart (Aikenhead Road) Police Station
- Govan (Helen Street) Police Station
- Maryhill (Maryhill Road) Police Station
- Springburn (Baird Street) Police Station
