Angela Farquhar

Angela is a Senior Legal Secretary based at our Carlton Place office in Glasgow city centre, where she provides essential support to our busy criminal defence team.

With over 25 years’ experience as a Legal Secretary, Angela joined The Glasgow Law Practice bringing with her a wealth of experience gained at another prominent criminal defence firm in Glasgow. That background meant she arrived with a clear understanding of the demands of a busy criminal litigation practice and was able to make an immediate contribution to the team.

As a first point of contact for clients visiting our Carlton Place office or contacting the team by telephone, Angela plays a vital role in the firm. She is frequently the first voice a client hears and the first face they see when they walk through our doors. She understands that those contacting the firm are often doing so at a stressful and uncertain time in their lives and she ensures that every client is made to feel heard, supported and in safe hands from that very first interaction.

Angela assists in preparing files across the entire criminal defence department, and her skills in audio typing make her particularly well placed to support solicitors in preparing even the most complex of cases. Beyond her client facing responsibilities, Angela is also responsible for the administration of all criminal files within the department. Utilising the Caseload case management system, she ensures that files are maintained to the highest standard, keeping cases on track and providing our solicitors with the administrative foundation they need to represent clients effectively and efficiently.

Angela also has extensive knowledge of the Scottish Legal Aid Board’s application processes and online system, ensuring that applications are dealt with accurately and efficiently so that our solicitors can focus on what matters most, representing their clients.

A key part of Angela’s role involves daily liaison with the Procurator Fiscal’s office, ensuring that all relevant disclosure has been received and that cases are fully updated and court ready. Her diligence in this regard means that our solicitors are always properly prepared and that nothing is left to chance when a client’s case calls before the court.

Angela’s wealth of experience and her commitment to the highest standards of client care make her a key member of our criminal defence team, and the smooth running of the department owes much to her dedication and expertise.
