At The Glasgow Law Practice, we prioritise regular, clear communication with our clients. We understand that going through legal processes can be stressful, and staying connected is a key way we ease that process.
We reach out to clients in the way that suits them best. Whether you prefer:
- In-person meetings at our office when it fits your schedule
- Telephone contact
- Email communications
- Text messaging via WhatsApp, iMessage, or standard SMS
We are here to ensure communication feels accessible and straightforward.
Our court schedules can be intense, especially during busy days from 9:30am to 4pm, which can make answering calls a bit challenging. If you’re struggling to reach us during this period, sending a quick text message is always a great option. We’ll get back to you promptly to arrange a time for further discussion.
Regular and transparent communication is a foundation of trust and ensures you always know where you stand at every stage of your case.
My Morning Routine – Preparing for the Court Day
Each day at The Glasgow Law Practice starts early. I typically arrive at the court building by 9am to ensure that everything is in place for the day ahead. The morning involves careful preparation, reviewing client cases, and ensuring that schedules are set and ready.
Here’s what a typical morning looks like:
- Client meetings for deferred sentences:
- These are often scheduled to start at 9:30am. I meet with clients to review their reports and provide reassurance and guidance on the process.
- Communication with key parties:
- I liaise with the procurator fiscal’s office and the sheriff clerks to ensure that all procedural steps are on track.
- Intermediate diets & trial preparations:
- These are important procedural stages in the legal process. Around 10:20am, we often receive a witness list for trials, which helps map out how the rest of the court day will unfold.
These tasks require attention to detail and clear communication with both the client and the court system. Being prepared in the morning ensures that the rest of the day runs smoothly.
Afternoon Court – A Different Rhythm but Just as Important
After the morning proceedings, we move into the afternoon court schedule, which generally starts at 2pm. This time slot can involve a variety of court types, including:
- Intermediate diets
- Domestic court hearings
- Custody court proceedings
Custody Matters – A Vital Part of My Role
Custody matters are emotionally charged and require sensitivity and clarity. A typical afternoon might involve visiting the cell area at Glasgow Sheriff Court to meet with clients awaiting their hearings. I spend time with them to:
- Explain the court process
- Review their charges
- Assess the likelihood of bail being opposed
Clients often arrive at these hearings anxious about their situation. I ensure they have all the information they need about the day’s proceedings and provide them with reassurance and guidance. Additionally, I’ll check in with family members if they’re in attendance to ensure everyone feels supported.
Once the afternoon hearings conclude, the final step in the day involves returning to the office to meet with clients who have scheduled appointments. These one-to-one discussions allow for a more detailed review of cases, addressing any concerns, and ensuring that all legal options are explored.
Balancing a Fast-Paced Schedule with Compassionate Legal Support
