Practice made perfect
Ross is the Managing Partner of The Glasgow Law Practice and has responsibility for day to day operations across the business. He is also a Solicitor Advocate where he specialises in serious crime, private and regulatory crime, fatal accident inquiries and professional misconduct. He is regularly instructed to represent a variety of clients facing court and tribunal hearings.
Ross joined the firm in 2001 as a trainee solicitor, was assumed as a Partner in 2007, qualified as a Solicitor Advocate in 2014 and took on the role of Managing Partner in 2023.
For more than twenty years he has been a key member of our busy criminal litigation department representing clients in courts across the country. Ross has conducted thousands of criminal cases over that period. Representing individuals charged with the whole spectrum of criminal offences from road traffic charges to Murder. More recently his practice has focussed on serious crime prosecuted at the High Court of Justiciary and professional misconduct proceedings. The defence of Road Traffic prosecutions including fatal cases is also of particular interest. Ross has an expertise in handling matters for professional clients facing disciplinary panels and also those facing sport disciplinary hearings. He has also conducted a significant number of Fatal Accident Inquries representing bereaved families of a deceased but also professional witnesses who are often parties to the FAI process.
In addition to criminal court matters Ross has a keen interest in child law and has appeared regularly before the Children’s Hearing and at Children’s Referrals. He is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a Trauma Informed lawyer.
Ross is regularly asked to speak to fellow solicitors on professional training matters and provide CPD training to young colleagues entering the profession. He is also a Criminal Quality Assurance Peer Reviewer on behalf of the Scottish Legal Aid Board.
Within the firm Ross has been at the forefront of modernisation across the firm. As one of the main driving forces behind the firm rebrand in 2012 and more recently developments in the use of legal technology to assist our staff and clients.Â
Moving forward Ross has a key role in driving and implementing the firms strategic growth plan and ensuring the firms vision and development goals are met. Setting the culture of the firm and the working environment for all staff are also important features of his role.Â
Ross has responsibility for Client Relations and Cashroom compliance as part of the firm’s senior management board.Â
Away from the firm Ross works hard to keep his golf handicap in single figures and spends a lot of his spare time on pitches across Glasgow and Lanarkshire coaching young footballers at both grassroots and professional youth academy level.
